Yesterday work was off to a very slow start (see post below).. but as I was sitting at my computer looking for anything to read or keep me occupied for the next 4 hours or until someone gave me some work to do.. Chloe, one of the fashion department girls, came up to me and asked me if I could do her a huge favor. I assumed she was going to send me on some errands or something not very exciting that no one else wants to really do so they will get the intern to do it.. but then the words came, “Would you be willing to be in a photoshoot for all of these clothes..? (motions to a wall of Vivienne Westwood, Chanel, Dior, Paul Smith, Miu Miu, D&G etc. clothing) There’s a lot there so you don’t have to if you don’t want to.” I say “yeah, sure.” while inside i couldn’t really contain my excitement. It was a lot of fun actually and a little bit awkward as well considering I was standing half naked at times in the middle of the studio in front of all the people I work with everyday. I’m sure I’ll never get to wear clothing like that ever again so I’m taking this all in and saying that yesterday turned out to be a pretty incredible day after all. Oh, all the files will be on the server monday so I will get them at that time.. but in the meantime Chloe gave me a few of the initial images today.

These are all pretty low res so when the better ones are up monday ill probably do an update. As you can see the clothes were pretty outrageous especially the hats but I was pretty much told to just stand and look unfazed.. overall it was fun and I’d definitely do it again if they asked me to.

translationz

I’ve spent the past two days glued to my computer chair at work translating magazines from English to German.. Why I am the one doing this is beyond me considering I don’t speak German.. not even a little.. not even at all. I’ve also come to the realisation that this is the worst chair in the world. Well I took a little time out from blogging after Michael Jackson died.. I’m actually still gutted. Moaning aside, I’ve got a nice little collection of drawings going on lately. Maybe I’ll get around to posting some later. Steve if you read this can you take a photo of Christopher Walken Riding a Tyrannosaurus?

We Have LASERS!

I came across the most incredible website today, we have lasers!!! I need to get a hold of my mom and have her email me mine and my sister’s elementary photos because we most certainly had the laser backdrop.. more than once. This brings back the memories of horrible school photos and awkwardness immortalized. The best part of the laser effect was that it cost extra. Definitely worth it.

I’m bored again. I really need to bring some things to do if the week is going to continue to stay this quiet. Apparently, everything just went to print at Tank so my internship isn’t ideally timed. Hopefully things pick up next week. I attempted conversation with the boy next to me this morning.. but he didn’t have much to say. Zhe, why don’t you wanna talk to me? I know you’re not busy.. I can see your screen. By all means playing japanese animated games is pretty appealing and all but I’m bored. Help a brother out?

problem solved

All those dreams, nightmares rather, I’ve had about out smarting a shark while in the middle of the ocean can’t be solved by doing somersaults. This was my best solution to confuse the shark of course. David Shrigley has shattered that for me now though.. but he may be onto something.

Tank?

Well I started my internship at Tank. So far not much has happened but here’s to hoping I’ll get to do something a little more exciting today. I spent nine hours yesterday collecting images.. I’m really not complaining though. I found some pretty interesting things and perhaps some new artists I could potentially like. I can’t say I’ve ever really been big into feminist art or anything but I kinda liked Tracey Emin’s raw confessions. Makes me feel a bit like a voyeur.. or just filled with teen angst?.. I dunno blame it on boredom.

Donkey Konga.. 2

So what started off as a night of uncertainty about figuring out where to go or what to do Sam, Rachel, Charlotte, Jonny and others ended up going back to Sam and Jonny’s.. to play the bongos. Probably the best idea anyone has had in a long time. Think of Guitar Hero expect replace the guitar with plastic barrel bongos.. take all the songs you knew in the 90’s and do some interesting covers. Then put it all into a video game and you have this. What started out as painful turned out to be the highlight of the evening with the ability to lure in others and keep us all occupied for a few hours. Although I was terribly rubbish at it some people may have discovered their calling. I could do with having another go.. I hope I haven’t missed my chance.

I found this. It’s awesome.

the video doesn’t do it justice.

Yesterday turned out to be a pretty eventful 24 hours. Woke up quite early and strolled down to Greenwich Park with Simon. By strolled down I mean hopped on the DLR only to get caught without a valid ticket.. somehow we managed to talk our way out of it. That’s the last time I do that. Once we made it to the park we trekked up the hill to the Royal Observatory and paid 4 quid for one of the live shows. It was surprisingly pleasant and I would recommend it to anyone interested in going sometime. After the show we sat on the hill for a bit feeding little birds straight from our hands. This is pretty exciting to me and luckily I brought my camera along. We walked to a church and looked around a little market that was taking place inside. Simon got some awesome sunglasses for 1 pound.  We sat in the park for a bit afterwards and had a few.. or loads.. of beers.. This is when it got a little interesting and Simon went over to a group of teenagers to ask for a cigarette. They surrounded him and wanted to beat him up for “ruining their fun.” Even better this time that I brought my camera. I captured it all but Simon got out of it with a cigarette and his life. I’d call that a success. It got a bit bizarre after this though because they came over to us afterwards demanding to know if I was his girlfriend and how old we were.. then hugged us? Oh, did I mention we got the privilege of watching a photo shoot as well. We made a few errors in not eating beforehand so we came back to my house to make some dinner before quickly heading off to Sam, Steve and Jonny’s house. After a long night and some heavy drinking I woke up with bruises covering my legs.. some odd ones in particular are the three dots and then an “h”..who knows.

This is where I went to high school.. apparently there was a food fight last Friday. My favorite part is Mr. Miles, the principal (khaki trousers and plaid shirt),  just walking around casually as food is flying past in every direction. Nothing like this ever happened while I was there, at least not that I can remember.
